Erin and Courtney… where do we begin?! These two and their love (plus their doodle!) is just too perfect! From snuggling during their cozy in-home themed session to baking scones together, we can’t wait to bring you along with us! How They Met
We will give you one guess… they met online during the pandemic so it had to be HINGE! Erin described it as this… “I vividly remember our first date though. Seeing her walk around the corner at the restaurant made me nearly speechless (the first and only time I was early). We sat at dinner and talked for hours. It went so fast and our conversation felt effortless. I knew I wanted to see her again as soon as I could and invited myself to join her at the farmers market the next morning.”
Courtney’s first impression almost led them to never go on a first date. HA. “During our early messaging I asked Erin what her best dad joke was (I think her profile said something about bad jokes?). Anyways, the next day she messages me and says, “Well, I got fired from my last job at a calendar factory, I left off too many days”. I read the message completely out of context and my first thought was “how irresponsible!? and why would she tell me about getting fired!?”
“It took me probably 15 minutes before I realized it was a joke… After that, honestly I was just so excited to meet and spend time with Erin. Conversation with her was so easy and her personality was like a bright ball of sunshine. She was so patient, understanding, and made me feel like I could tell her anything.”
How They Fell In Love
Courtney about Erin… “I don’t remember a moment, but remember feeling giddy ALL of the time. I wanted to spend every moment of every day with her, and as an introvert it was a bit alarming. I knew I was in love with her when “I love you” started to slip off of the tongue and I had to catch myself before saying it. It felt like the words were falling out of my mouth, but I also didn’t want to scare her by saying it so early. I think the words were on the tip of my tongue for probably two weeks before I finally got the courage to tell her.”
Erin about Courtney… “It’s hard to think of a time when I didn’t love her, or feel incredibly loved BY her. I felt like the most important person in the world, basically from our first date. I think our at-home covid Ben Rector concert was the night that clued me in that this was something extra special. Sitting on the couch with her. Holding her hand. Our first kiss. The butterflies are still there when I think about it.”
Their Proposal Story
When Courtney asked Erin what her dream proposal would be, she said she envisioned both of them proposing at the same time (but still a surprise!) Follow us here… Courtney had a friend who had recently moved to Los Angeles. So to celebrate their anniversary plus seeing one of their friends, Courtney decided L.A. would be the perfect spot!
So Courtney messaged Erin’s best friend to try to see if Erin was planning to propose to her. Her friend said that she hadn’t mentioned it yet but planted the seed. So all along Erin thought she was planning the proposal 🙂
Fast forward to day of and Courtney packed a picnic and decor in their car so Erin wouldn’t know. Later that day they went on an 11 mile bike ride and Courtney was feeling VERY nervous. They got back to their car and she insisted they change clothes (WINK WINK). They eventually get to the spot where the proposal is going to happen, Courtney hauls it all up to the spot, trying to rush to set it up before Erin walks back from parking the car. The sun is starting to set and finally she comes up the hill. They eat their dinner, have a sweet dance together, and then they both proposed all while it was captured by their best friend!
Erin stated… “I Didn’t realize until after the proposal that my friend had casually suggested when/where I could propose and I took it-hook, line, and sinker!”
Their Baking Session with Indianapolis Indiana Engagement Photographers
They opted for a cozy in-home themed session so that they could escape the harsh winter cold and do some things that they genuinely love doing! They cozied up on the couch for few shots with their doodle Charley! We then escaped to the kitchen where they showed Bryt and I how they bake scones! We had some fun getting flour on each other’s faces and then of course Charley had to join for some of the baking action shots 🙂
