We are Sam + Bryt, wife and wife elopement photographers, business educators, and LGBTQ+ activitists! We are so freaking excited that you are here!
If you are ready to go on an adventure, feel empowered, or learn how to level up your business, we are your girls! So.. what are you waiting for? Let's do this thing!
We are so excited to share this 21 Petals Engagement Session of Britt + Alejandra with you! Stay tuned for some dancing, loving, and a whole lotta flowers! These two are the perfect match and we couldn’t be more honored to be able to capture their wedding in just a few months!
We asked Britt + Alejandra to tell us about where their relationship alllll started! Britt moved to Indiana in July of 2019 to start her new job at Indiana State University after graduating from her master’s program. While she was extremely busy (#life) adjusting to her new role at Indiana State University, she was swiping on Bumble on the side. (THANK YOU TECHNOLOGY!)
Britt was sitting in the car with a co-worker of hers when she matched with Alejandra on Bumble! She was immediately drawn to the red lipstick Alejandra was wearing in her Bumble profile picture. Britt is not one to shy away from starting a conversation, so when Alejandra messaged Britt first, she was excited and intrigued.
Alejandra moved to Indiana at the beginning of August of 2019 to continue her PhD at Indiana University-Bloomington. She decided there was no better way to jump into her new life in Bloomington than to jump on Bumble and swipe to get to know people in the community.
When she realized students were still not in session, she changed the settings on her app to include women 24 and older. Immediately after changing her settings, this gorgeous feminist interested in conspiracy theories popped up. (OH HELLO THERE 😉 ) Immediately there was a match. Without hesitation, Alejandra made the first move and sent the first message, something she never did. The rest is history!
We then asked the two of them to tell us alllll about the proposal! We love a good proposal story!
“So we had planned this super sweet picnic at the winery for the 4th of July because my roommate (Tiffany) her partner was visiting town so we wanted to do something fun. Well, then Tiff asked me if I wanted to get my nails done that morning, so I started getting suspicious.
While we were getting our nails done, Britt texted me to tell me that there was a flood at work and they were calling back all staff, and that she had to go and would be gone all weekend, ruining our plans. I was furious. I told Tiff that I didn’t even feel like going to the winery anymore and that she should just go alone with her partner.
Well, Tiff would not accept that as an answer, she basically forced me to get ready and used the excuse “we haven’t gotten cute in forever because of the pandemic we are going and taking pictures and that is it.” Well, we got to the winery (Oliver Winery in Bloomington), and they immediately directed us to a tasting room to the left.
We picked our glasses of wine and walked out, and there was Britt, standing with a bouquet of my favorite flowers, sunflowers. As I walked towards her, she said hello nervously, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry her. And here we are. (A special thanks to Costella jewelry for the BLING!)
One of our favorite things to do is ask each partner what they love most about the other. It never fails to bring a smile to our faces! Here is what these two said!
“One of the biggest things I fell in love with about Britt right off the bat is how funny, goofy, charismatic, and full of life she is. She matched my serious calculated personality with joy and laughs and I was hooked. She can walk into a room and strike up a conversation with anyone.”
“Alejandra has the kindest and most loving soul. She knows how to love me the way that I want to be loved and cared for. Alejandra has an incredible head on her shoulders and is so intelligent, emotionally, and academically. She is in tune with her feelings and knows how to work with them. I admire her emotional strength and toughness.”
21 petals is easily one of my favorite locations in Lafayette! Pulling into the farm you’ll be surrounded by beautiful flowers, greenhouses, and if you are lucky a cute little farmer named Foxx will come and visit you! 21 Petals was named in tribute to Foxx’s (The owner’s son) three copies of chromosome 21, instead of the usual 2 that results in Down Syndrome. Foxx will have the option to work for the farm full-time when he grows up! So when you have your session here, you are supporting the cutest little one and his family!
21 Petals has so many flowers that you can even order your wedding florals here! But one of the biggest reasons we love to visit is their you-pick farm! You can come to the farm, cut however many flowers you can fit into a bucket, and take them home to arrange yourself. We easily get at least 3 different arrangements from the bucket! So.. what is better than having your engagement session double as a date? We’d like to think not much!
We hope you enjoyed reading all about Alejandra and Britt and their 21 Petals Engagement Session in Lafayette, Indiana! We cannot be more excited to capture their wedding in just a few months!
