We are Sam + Bryt, wife and wife elopement photographers, business educators, and LGBTQ+ activitists! We are so freaking excited that you are here!
If you are ready to go on an adventure, feel empowered, or learn how to level up your business, we are your girls! So.. what are you waiting for? Let's do this thing!
Ohhh do we have quite the story for you today…. First of all, welcome back to our little old blog and secondly, welcome to the blog alllll about Kendra and Alex and their Indianapolis LGBTQ Proposal!
Picture this…. a couple weeks back, Bryt and I had a giveaway – should I say “giveaway” hahaha!! It was a session we were raffling off, you had to tag people in the comments, and the winner was randomly chosen a week later! Well, sorry to inform y’all, ’twas a PRANK!
Kendra reached out to us and wanted to plan something BIG, something special, and something that would catch the love of her life off guard completely. She wanted a proposal that was just as unique and fun as they are! And I may be biased… but I think we accomplished just that.
Basically the story goes like this: Kendra reaches out to us and inquires about how we can plan the most secret proposal of all time. We decide on a giveaway!
Kendra and Alex both start tagging people like crazy trying to “win” this giveaway, Alex mostly! Alex literally starts tagging celebrities… that is how much she wanted this!! LOL we love the determination! 😉
As you could probably imagine, Kendra and Alex “win” the giveaway. Kendra is actually able to catch her reaction on camera which is SO dang adorable. You can see the reaction here on our instagram reels! Check it out!
Next thing you know… one thing leads to another and it’s photoshoot time at the ever so lovely Marott Park for one hell of an Indianapolis LGBTQ Proposal! The two of them walk to our setup and the entire reaction was caught on film and camera. Dreams DO come true!!!!!
This process was long and hard and very secretive… but SO. DANG. WORTH IT.
We are so proud of everyone involved in this project and SO extremely over the freakingggg moon for Kendra and Alex! And their adorable Yorki pup that got to tag along, Eli! Our hearts melted over him too 😉
Please, please, please enjoy the following photos of one of the best surprises we have ever pulled off!
Alex and Kendra have been together since October of 2019. Some say its fate because they met on TINDER. Alex swiped right first, and then when Kendra swiped right it was a match! Kendra thought she hit the lesbian jackpot when she saw Alex.
Kendra- “If you’ve ever been on Tinder, Bumble, etc- I know you feel me when I say it can be ROUGH. When I saw Alex, I immediately was like OMG is this real?! I swiped right & when it was a match, I think I literally jumped in excitement. I did not hesitate to slide into her DMs.”
Alex- ” Well, we matched on Tinder & I swiped first so I had to patiently wait for her to swipe back to make it a match. After two days of texting, I made Ken have a Face-time date with me (to make sure she was real LOL). She left a football game early to go home (which if you know her- this is very out of character) and do her hair for our FT date. I called her up with my hair on top of my head & a headband on. It went well & we talked for HOURS – literally until 3AM. (Side note we both go to bed around 9PM, so this definitely spoke volumes) This continued for days & weeks afterwards. We never got bored with conversation and we just loved learning about each other. “
And the rest?! Well, it’s history! And fun fact, they Face-timed every night from then on out when they weren’t together in the evening. Now, their favorite thing to do together is to travel the world. “Whether it be just an hour away from our home or traveling internationally, we love exploring the world together. And while traveling we love to do all the things & try all the food and all the drinks.” These two have already explored SIX countries together!
Kendra worked with Sydney, from Pacula Diamonds in Fort Wayne IN, on Alex’s engagement ring. It’s a 14K white gold, pear shape diamond! Pacula Designs is a new concept in the jewelry industry. They aren’t a retail store or a wholesale jeweler. They are a boutique end-to-end, bespoke jewelry experience.
“Take time to plan it out. This is a day you’ll remember forever & a story you’ll tell over and over again. Not to mention, when you get engaged, the first thing everyone asks is “how’d they do it?!” “
“In conversations, try to uncover any expectations. For instance, I knew that Alex wanted a photographer there “hidden” to document the proposal. I also knew she wouldn’t want a public proposal in front of a huge group of people. When opportunities present themselves to ask these questions- take advantage of them.”
“Keep it a surprise. If you feel they’re expecting it- do something to throw them off, so you do it when they least expect it. For instance, I had a feeling that Alex thought I may propose in Italy. So I decided to change it up & throw her off. When we called to tell our family- multiple people said “we thought you’d do it in Italy” – I threw everyone off. it was a complete surprise- can’t recommend it enough!”
Our hearts are so incredibly full and overflowing with the love of these two. We hope you can share some of this serotonin with us through these photos – you know you can feel it! This Indianapolis LGBTQ Proposal is an unforgettable one.
Would you ever do a complex, surprise engagement like this? Or do you prefer low-key? Both are valid answers!
