COMIN’ IN HOT! Today we are sharing this marvelous LGBTQ Engagement Session on the lake with you… internet, meet Kate and Jess! We bonded with them this week over an engagement session in lovely West Lafayette and created some digital photography magic! WHOOP WHOOP! Keep reading to hear their story and see their pics!
Together for six and a half years, these two know each other prettyyyyyy well! Together, Jess and Kate love exploring new restaurants and breweries together. Same here!! As much as they love to explore and be active, they say they are regulars at the BBQ restaurant near their house! THAT is a mood. They also shared with us that they tend to drag all of their friends there whenever they can – HAHA! “We’re on a hunt to find the best Thai food in Indy.” Recommendations for these two lovebirds??? Other than their time alone, they say they are BLESSED with an awesome niece and nephew and then to spend all of their extra time with them… when they’re not taking pictures for a LGBTQ Engagement Session 😉
They met on Tinder! INTERNET WIN FOR THE DAY. Kate accepted an awesome job in Indy and swiped right on Jess a few months before moving to town! Sounds like the beginning to a pretty good romance movie so far… Jess and Kate talked for a few months and then, FINALLY, made plans to meet up after Kate moved. They stayed up most of the night talking and when it got late, Kate gave Jess her number and said: “here’s my number, I’m pretty sure you’re not a serial killer.”
HAHAHA! Are you kidding?! That might be the best one liner we have ever heard. Obviously, it worked on Kate; hook, line, and sinker because we are here telling their story today! Initially, Jess thought Kate was SO cute and EVEN easier to talk to. Important characteristics for ya soulmate, people. Their story gets even more romcom-y… Their first date was at an Indiana Fever game and SOMEHOW these two got asked to play “those cheesy half time games on the court.” Again… are you kidding me?? Kate remarks that at this, Jess looked like the idea of this made her want to hurl… so they bowed out.
From Jess about Kate: “I knew pretty early on. It was easy to talk to you from the moment we met. I didn’t feel like I had to try to be something different to be with you. It’s like we just fit together from day one. It wasn’t just one moment but more just like how easily it felt like we connected. I also didn’t tell you the first time I came over that I was allergic to cats. So like 30 minutes in I had to ask you to go to target with me to get allergy meds because my eyes were about to be swollen shut. Luckily, Cally approved of me too and I’ve built up a tolerance.”
From Kate about Jess: “When we first started seeing each other I was still trying to play it “cool”. I remember we were flirting and I said something like “ok, champ”. I was trying to downplay how seriously I felt about her. Jess immediately was like “Why did you call me that? Just call me babe if you want to.” Honestly no one ever called me on my bullshit like that before. I knew there was no going back after that… for me, I’ve always wanted someone to challenge me and help me grow. I knew in that moment that was Jess.”
Now THESE are some realistic answers and we are HERE FOR IT! Kate + Jess are so down to Earth and real… and that’s why they work so well together and you are about to see pictured proof of it!
From Jess: I knew I wanted to propose somewhere that looked cool so the Bottleworks Hotel in Indianapolis fit. We had never been there before so I thought she also wouldn’t expect it. I got some of our friends together and they hid out inside of one of the shops. Then I told Kate we were going to take a picture and when she turned around to take the selfie I was down on one knee. I wasn’t actually nervous at all. It just felt like the start of our new chapter together. I was just excited! Our friends popped out after and we got dinner downtown to celebrate.
From Kate: I love that Jess had some of our friends there. We’re big on chosen family and it meant a lot to have some of people there.
And the ring you ask? Well, Catbird NYC was a perfect fit for Kate! Since Jess punches bags 6/7 days a week (Can you say rockstar?!) she has a silicone ring for now!
After looking at these images, you can just see that Indiana has an endless amounts of locations for your engagement session! From state parks to local creek stomping grounds, there are so many amazing places to celebrate your love! These photos were taken at one of secret favorite parks in West Lafayette, Indiana! From wooded areas to a small lake with a beautiful sunset, the possibilities are endless! Then, after your session you can head on over to one of our favorite local restaurants, Walts Pub, for dinner! And for dessert? Well, Silver Dipper Ice Cream has got you covered! If you want to head out for drinks after we highly suggest the well known bar on Purdue’s Campus, Harrys Chocolate Shop!
