Today on the blog we are talking about the best intimate wedding venues in Central Indiana! Many of these vendors we have worked with (some over several times!). Some we have not worked with, but hope to work with them in the future! This list isn’t in any particular order, but we hope it can help all future couples who are planning an intimate wedding!
First off you might be wondering what is an intimate wedding? An intimate wedding is a smaller wedding, with about 40 or less guests. Some couples may choose an intimate wedding to help them keep a small budget. The less guests you have, the more personal the celebration. When there are less guests you really get to interact with your guests on a more personal level. Many couples even choose to have intimate destination weddings (that’s what we did!) because the cost can be relatively similar in many locations.
When we had our intimate wedding, we had about 30 or so guests. We had a sunset sail on a catamaran with our closest family and friends. It was so great to celebrate our special day with the ones who meant the most! I once heard someone say, think about an intimate wedding guests list like this…. Ask yourself, “Do you have the person’s phone number?” The guests that are invited are likely close family and friends whom you talk to on a weekly or monthly basis. You have their phone number. Many times in a larger wedding, you might not know some of your guests because maybe your mom invited their work friends, or you never met your spouse’s great aunt Sally.
Okay, enough about what an intimate wedding is! Let’s go over some location ideas from the Lafayette, Indiana area for an intimate wedding!
I stumbled upon Stauffer Farms when Brittany and Mike reached out about photographing their wedding. It is like this hidden gem I never knew existed in Indiana. It offered the most perfect ceremony spot plus their property is just all around beautiful.
When you pull up to the location, you can see the old, white barn and the gorgeous surrounding acres. However, a short walk leads you to a beautiful pond. The ceremony was set up overlooking the water. They even drove some guests who couldn’t make the walk!
Imagine getting married lakeside with no one else around. Seriously, one of my favorite intimate wedding spots!
Feeling all the enchanted forest vibes? Brown County State Park and the Abe Martin Lodge Amphitheater is the perfect intimate wedding spot! Say your vows on one of their several ceremony locations. This spot is perfect for any intimate wedding.
I love how this location truly gives an intimate vibe. When you walk into this ceremony spot, you feel as if you have really gone deep into a forest, with no one else around! The true definition of intimate! Plus you can roam around the park for your couples photos!
Your reception can be held in the Abe Martin Lodge venue, if you choose. There is also a gorgeous outside location with a deck so that you can enjoy the beautiful weather with your guests!
The Old Gray Barn is nestled in between fields and is completely decked out for any rustic wedding! This place has space for yard games and all kinds of dancing! The ceremony space overlooks this overgrown field, which, in any photographers eyes – is gorgeous!
If you choose, an intimate reception can be held entirely outdoors on the patio of their barn! But as a back up, you can also hold your reception inside the barn! Check our Abby and Ethan’s wedding on the blog to see more photos from this venue in Frankfort, Indiana!
Curtis Creek Country Club is the perfect location for any intimate wedding! I have been to numerous weddings and receptions at Curtis Creek and each of them have been so wonderful! All couples have full access to photograph photos on the property and the greens provide a gorgeous backdrop for a small reception.
I think what I love most about Curtis Creek is the ability to turn your ceremony or reception into whatever vibe you might want. I also love the indoor/outdoor aspect that your reception can have. You could set up a tent outdoors and have a long kings table for your all of your guests!
Buckley homestead is literally one of the most perfect spots for an intimate wedding. The light here is so gorgeous, especially as the sun is setting. Plus, they have animals! Need I say more?! Can you imagine taking your wedding photos with a cow?! What about a goat?! ha! They have so many different places you can set up your ceremony, plus the barns on the property allow for some of the most gorgeous backdrops!
Take a look for yourself! How could you not want to get married here?! I love the aesthetics of walking along the cow pasture too! Sarah + TJ didn’t get married here, but they made sure to have time to stop for their couples photos by because this place is just that pretty! Check out their blog for more photos!
The list below is a list of places we haven’t been to yet, but hope to soon! Here is a list of other intimate wedding venues in central Indiana! They are gorgeous and also offer the perfect space for intimate wedding ceremonies!
Water Tower Estates Winery in Terre Haute, Indiana – Okay, I may be partial to Water Tower Estates Winery, because my aunt and uncle own it. But this space is seriously the cutest! They even have the cutest path behind the barn for your ceremony space. Plus, did I mention that they make wine slushies?!
Indy Hostel- The Indy Hostel is the perfect spot for an intimate wedding! They can host up to 37 people and have the most perfect backyard for a ceremony or reception!
Sugar Maple Barn in Kokomo, Indiana – The Sugar Maple Barn is a new wedding venue! They have a gorgeous property plus the owners seem super nice! I also love the aesthetics of the lighting at night! Plus, check out that sunset below!
Purdue Horticulture Park, West Lafayette, Indiana – We have shot MANY family photos and couples at Purdue Horticulture Park, but never a wedding! I actually did not even know you rent Hort Park out for your wedding! How pretty would this spot be for an intimate wedding? I actually know a super secret woodsy spot here that would be PERFECT!
Okay! Phew! I hope you enjoyed this post on the best intimate wedding venues in Central Indiana! Indiana has so many great locations, I’m not sure how anyone would choose 🙂
