First off.. all about the location!
Why we love The Celery Bog
The Celery Bog is a beautiful park nestled in West Lafayette, Indiana. Jacob picked this spot out because it was their first date location actually. With more than 6 miles of trails, it’s easy to see why this is the perfect escape from your busy life! It’s even been recognized as one of the top 5 locations in the state to watch wild birds! Endless marsh lands and, forest, and tall grasses can be found here! Which is why it is always one of our top choices for photos of all kinds!
But one of our favorite reasons we love the spot is the sunset! As the sun goes down, the light becomes more and more beautiful! We love to “chase” the light along the trails here as we photograph our couples!
All about the West Lafayette Area
First thing you need to know – GO BOILERS! This is Purdue country y’all. Everything is black and gold, Boilermakers, Purdue Pete, Boilermaker Special… yup. Get familiar with it all, study up!
West Lafayette has so much to offer besides its notable Big 10 school. So after your proposal, go out to eat at Cafe Literato, grab coffee at Révièlle, catch a movie at Wabash 9.
Or plan a date night painting pottery at All Fired Up! or go ice skating at the rink. Take a trip to one of the parks; Happy Hollow, Horticulture Park, Clegg park, orrrr the Celery Bog! 😉

How to get to the Celery Bog
The Celery Bog is located at 1620 Lindberg Rd. West Lafayette, Indiana. It is located on the north-west side of West Lafayette.
About Cordell & Jacob
I have dubbed these two of of our happiest couples! These two met through a mutual friend. Jacob was working at a local elementary school and Kate, the mutual friend, knew that both of them were looking for their forever someone. She thought they would be a great match, so she connected them! They went on a few dates and it’s been a love story since!
Their proposal
” I (Jacob) took Cordell back to where our first date was. We went to the Celery Bog Nature Área in West Lafayette. This is the first place we met and we continue to have a special connection with the area. We love the trails and the sense of nature the area brings us. I took Cordell to the pier that over looks the water. It was a beautiful fall evening and the lighting was perfect!”
Jacob had us set up a cute sign, Mr. & Mr. champagne glasses, and some champagne. When Cordell first saw the setup he assumed it wasn’t for him. Upon further investigation he realized what was happening!
“What do you love most about each other?”
“The thing I love the most about Jacob is his heart. It sounds cliché, I know, but he just loves so much. He is always there to show support to those that are important to him. When Jacob cares about you, he cares with everything he has.”

I love Cordell’s gently personality and open mind. Cordell is a very well rounded individual who loves everyone just they way they are. I appreciate and love how much Cordell supports me and encourages me to do my best. He is truly an amazing human and I love that I get to call him my better half.

One thing we love is telling love stories. There is something so real and raw about capturing other LGBTQ+ member’s love stories too. We know how hard we as a community have worked to get to where we are at, and we still have so much more work to do.
But to see other LGBTQ+ couples finding their soulmates and starting their forever, is truly just one of the best parts of our jobs! As an LGBTQ+ proposal photographer, we are so thankful for capturing other members of our community.
