We are Sam + Bryt, wife and wife elopement photographers, business educators, and LGBTQ+ activitists! We are so freaking excited that you are here!
If you are ready to go on an adventure, feel empowered, or learn how to level up your business, we are your girls! So.. what are you waiting for? Let's do this thing!
With a couple named Josie and Joe… you’re kind of entitled to read this blog about them and their Turkey Run Elopement, because OBVIOUSLY they are a couple that is just meant to be! Keep on scrolling to hear about their story and this location.
What isn’t there to love about this park? There is so dang much to do! Lots and lots of hiking trails that are kind of the heart on a trip to Turkey Run… even a trail with a bunch of ladders – do we have your interest peeked yet?
There are tons of cabins on the grounds for you and your love to rent and stay the weekend in (maybe a good idea for your very own Turkey Run Elopement?). A short walk from the cabins and lodge is a barn with trail horses galore. Schedule a ride through the park, you’ll have a BLAST – Trust us, we’re professional adventurers basically! This is a fan favorite part of the park.
Turkey Run State Park is in Marshall, Indiana. Located in Southwest Indiana, hills are galoreeee so watch those turns! Use Google Maps as your newest bestest best friend to help you get there.
The real question is why should you NOT have a Turkey Run elopement? With views like the ones you see below, it’s hard to even believe you are in Indiana!
If you’re outdoorsy, but don’t want to hike miles… you don’t have to! You can elope outside of you cabin, just head down a few steps to amazing views, or find some water right before the bridge! We’ll help you make it all magical!
Again, lots of options people! You can stay in one of the nice rooms in the lodge (that is also a hotel!) – this way you’re close to food and the gift shop lol… OR, stay in one of the many cabins on the grounds. This is a more private option considering you’ll have the porch and the whole house to yourself! We love love love the cabins Turkey Run has to offer. OR scroll down below to see where Josie & Joe stayed (hint…it’s a YURT!).
Abso-freaking-lutley! As most places, they must stay on leash. It’s just the respectful thing to do y’all! But this is a dogs heaven for sure, lots of trails and water to explore. SO many smells and things for them to see 🙂 Go ahead and bring Fluffy along for the ride!
We found each other on a dating app – Dating app win!!!! We LOVE hearing dating app success stories. We’re all for it. Joe thought Josie was cute and sweet and she was a really good listener… yassss, good listener is a number one great quality to have. He says, “I felt warm and comfortable talking with her and being around her, and we knew right off the bat that there would be a second date”.
After they were done eating at there first date, Joe told Josie that he was having SUCH a good time that he did not want the date to end… Good sign, right?! “He invited me to a local bar and the first date continued for another few hours! My first impression of Joe was holy cow, this man is HANDSOME. He was very polite and was such a gentleman!”
Well, we will just let them answer for themselves! This is what Joe had to say…
“We had spent the day together and had just watched the sunset at the park by the lake. I felt so connected with her at that moment, and I felt like she accepted me for who I was. I was compelled to tell her how I feel, so I said “I love you.” “
And Josie has JUST as cute of a story,
“Joe invited me to hang out with him and never made me feel like a burden. He always made sure that I felt comfortable with what we were doing and that made me feel so good about our relationship. One weekend, Joe invited me to his house down at Purdue and he showed me around the campus. He held on to me and looked so proud to have me next to him. At that moment, I knew I loved this man and wanted to be with him forever!!”
Spur of the moment, but fully thought through and unique. Joe tells us he grabbed the ring and took Josie and Nelly (their sweet, sweet pup!) to the beach since and it was a beautifulllll evening. The two love birds and pup at their heels were looking for pieces of beach glass when Joe put the ring box on the ground for Josie to find… and when she did, he got on one knee and popped the question! AWWW. We are obsessed with their Love and everything that lead them to their Turkey Run Elopement.
Turkey Run is THE place for an elopement, a little of an underground idea, but Josie and Joe hit their Turkey Run Elopement out of the park and we’re hoping their story might inspire some more elopements at this Indiana gem.
Josie & Joe started off their elopement weekend by staying in this beautiful Yurt Inspired Cabin at the Queen & I Homestead in Crawfordsville Indiana. This private and unique cabin sits in between native prairie grass and woods. It truly is the perfect oasis to get away from all crazy life expectations. And did we mention it is perfect for a Turkey Run Elopement? Being only 35 minutes away from Turkey Run it is close to food, stores, and restaurants in the town of Crawfordsville. I spent some time growing up in this little town and can recommend lots of great places to eat!
Not only does their property have this beautiful Yurt, but it also sits on 28 acres to explore and enjoy! Plus you can even bring your pets! And that is just what Josie & Joe did! You saw Nelly living her best life above 🙂
As you saw above, these two decided to exchange their vows in the privacy of their yurt, a place that they will be able to come back to year after year. We found a cute little spot along the drive in, with wildflowers and lush greens. They read each other their vows, exchanged their rings, and sealed their ceremony with a kiss! After that, we headed off to Turkey Run to explore and have a little picnic!
We hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into Josie & Joe’s day at Turkey Run State Park! If you are ready to have us help you plan your dream elopement day, reach out today!
