All About Newfields, The Indianapolis Art Museum
On their website, they say they are a place for “the arts and nature” and we agree! The Indianapolis Art Museum (Newfields) is a place where you can see once a lifetime art at their many exhibits, but also can explore the nature around their grounds. Art is truly everywhere! And that’s just how we like it 😉
Right now, all the buzz is about their Van Gogh immersive exhibit… let us tell ya, you NEED to go! Our assistant went recently and she is obsessed with it, you get to sit in a room while the walls fill with Van Gogh paintings while a mix of storytelling about his life and piano melodies play! She said it’s incredible. And we don’t need to take her word because we already went, too! For a lot of these exhibits, you need to buy tickets in advanced, so stay up to date and prepare for that! You CAN however, buy tickets at the door for their more permanent collections.
Why do we love Newfields Engagement Photos?
Name a better place to create artsy engagement photos that a place that is LITERALLY exuding all the artsy, creative, aesthetically pleasing vibes?! Hahahaha. We can’t think of a place more fun and unique than photos at an art museum and Newfields is absolutely no different!
From their gardens to the Funky Bones yard (if you’ve seen the hit movie, The Fault in Our Stars, you might start to recognize this place *wink wink*), the options for you photos are endless. That actually might be what we enjoy the most about Newfields… when you have a long list of options at a single location, that makes your photographer veryyyy happy hahaha! We enjoy getting to mess around with the light and the landscape, the architecture, the vibes, all of it! When there are lottos places to shoot, it can make it feel like a new place in each spot! How cool?!!
What permits do I need for Newfields Engagement Photos and how much does it cost?
Newfields has a photography permit rule, as most places do! So make sure to do your research while planning your Newfields Engagement Photos. We want to be as respectful to the venue as we can and follow their rules! 🙂 This is what they have to say at their website, “Photography is encouraged at Newfields and we would love for you to share your photos using #DiscoverNewfields. To protect the artworks and living collections being photographed, and for the safety of other guests, the guidelines below must be followed when photographing at Newfields.” They also say to order your permit pass two weeks ahead to avoid any inconveniences, easy enough! Their fee is $50.
How do we get to Newfields?
Newfields in right on the outskirts of downtown Indy! Which we think is enjoyable in itself lol, you don’t have to be in the hustle and bustle of the heart of downtown, you can plan your day on the outer region. You can stay away from all that hectic energy, HA! Go ahead and plug “Newfields, Indianapolis” right into your GPS. Dang, we LOVE living in a world where apple maps and google maps exist. We are HELLA directionally challenged LOL. So if you’re like us, go ahead and plug that baby into your GPS map app of choice! 🙂 They recommend you use the main entrance just a block west of the corner of 38th and Michigan Road !Look for the stoplight there, and their big sign! Turn north into the lot… And BOOM, you are there!
Why did Justin & Grace choose Newfields for their Engagement Photos
Well to state the obvious on why they chose Newfields Engagement Photos, they told us their favorite things to do together include “loving to garden, exploring museums, and traveling”, so we’re pretty sure you can find like… all of these at Newfields LOL. Perfect choice for them! ALSO, their freaking engagement itself was here!! How cute and full circle??? We are absolutely loving this. All About Justin & Grace
Internet win alert! Inherent win alert! These two lovers met on Hinge! LOL! We are totally intrigued with this new age dating, the internet is killinggg the game. In a good way. Grace tells us, “He made the first move, I was trying to play coy!” Grace’s favorite thing about her boy is his upbeat and ready to go attitude! “He is the biggest ray of sunshine in my life”, she tells us while we swoon. Soooos stinkin’ sweet! Justin is just obsessed with the way Grace puts others before herself always. He loves her ability to make anyone and everyone feel loved.
This is one of the best attributes a person can have, we wholeheartedly agree. In 20 years, they told us they hope to remember how much fun they had together. And hope to be still having that much fun LOL! Don’t we all wish for this!! After hearing how funny their proposal story is, we have no doubts they will still be giggling together in a short 20 years.
Their Proposal Story
The two love birds went to Newfields (duhhhh that’s why we ended up back here haha!). They were going to “take a walk” while there was still the sweeeet, early spring blooms. Our favorite too! They were up on the terrace and we are told that ironically, “she (Grace) was walking away pouting that it was the perfect time to propose. Meanwhile, I was already on one knee waiting for her to turn around”. OMG if that isn’t the funnest thing ever!!! Obviously, she must have manifested it 😉 Hahahaha, dont worry Grace! Your sarcasm only adds to the perfection of this whole proposal. Just like that and now we are here with their Newfields Engagement Photos! Right where it all started. It all worked in her favor in the end, we guess haha! 😉
