We are Sam + Bryt, wife and wife elopement photographers, business educators, and LGBTQ+ activitists! We are so freaking excited that you are here!
If you are ready to go on an adventure, feel empowered, or learn how to level up your business, we are your girls! So.. what are you waiting for? Let's do this thing!
We are so excited to share another LGBTQ proposal with you! This proposal is full of beautiful warmth in a gorgeous Indianapolis wedding venue! Planning a proposal by yourself can be nerve wracking but when you team up with some amazing vendors it can turn out to be so amazing! So without further delay here is Alexis and Anna’s proposal story!
As told by Alexis- “We met on Hinge. I messaged first. I saw that she went to Ball State and worked in Social Work so I just messaged her asking if she was a fellow social worker. She’s been trapped with me every since😂 I definitely thought she was way too cool for me. She had the best smile too.
As told by Anna-“I LOVED her curly hair and thought her Hawaiian button up was the cutest thing ever. She said she wanted to put little tables and chairs in my dimples for a dinner date, and I just knew this girl was the perfect amount of weirdness for me.”
A few months ago Anna planned the perfect proposal for Alexis. “I was planning to propose at The Office Experience in Chicago, but COVID really ruined that one. I even bought an ornament with the date and time. Instead, I settled on a spoon asking “will you marry me?” since I Typically make coffee for us every morning and felt it fit who we are. I woke her up with coffee. The ring was hanging on the spoon and resting on the mug. The rest was history ❤️. We still use the spoon every morning. In the end, I’m glad the office experience didn’t work out. Now we have something reminding us of that moment that we can use every day.”
But then it was Alexis’ turn to start planning…
“When Anna proposed to me in January, I was planning a proposal in May for our two year anniversary, and I had a ring picked out. So we went to the jewelry store to get it, but they didn’t have the exact ring that I wanted. The jeweler brought us one that was similar, and Anna really like it. So we ordered that one and it was supposed to be delivered within 8 weeks. So originally, I planned to have us vacation in Kenebunkport, Maine where my family used to spend some summers. I got the ring at the beginning of March and couldn’t wait any longer.”
“So I stopped coordinating with photographers in Maine and started looking for photographers here in Indy. Once I found the one I liked (and Anna had already followed on Instagram), I coordinated with her to set up an engagement session with a surprise proposal. I told Anna the ring had not come yet so she had no idea going into the engagement shoot.”
Since they had just booked their wedding venue, it was only fate that we would capture their engagement photos at their venue, The Mill Top Banquet Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bryt and I arrived a little bit ahead of time to explore and the amazing venue staff gave us a tour and helped us pick the perfect spot.
I texted Alexis and let her know of the planned location and as soon as they arrived we headed up. We wanted the proposal to be first so that the rest of the session could be used to celebrate their proposal.
When we arrived to the third floor, I had both of them stand back to back and take their venue in. When Alexis turned around Anna felt some movement, and she saw her get down on one knee. She was so surprised because she had no idea that her ring came in. It was such a beautiful moment and of course the puppies got to be involved too!
We spent the rest of their session exploring their venue and taking some beautiful shots in some of their favorite places. We are so honored that we were able to capture such a special time for these two!!
Alexis picked The Mill Top Banquet Hall (their wedding venue) to propose to Anna because it was such a beautiful place that they both loved. The Mill Top Venue is one of Noblesville’s best wedding locations. We love how the exposed brick creates this warm and inviting feel for any wedding day.
The Mill Top offers an industrial-chic backdrop for any special event. They offer a variety of rooms for your reception and ceremony. Each has twinkle lights, wooden beams, and exposed brick.
They can host anything from a small guest list to 300 guests. If you are looking for a more intimate venue, they have you covered as well. Checkout their skylight room with actual skylights! They provide full bar service packages and have wedding suites as well. You can bring your own decor, you can choose most of your vendors, and pets are even allowed! We also love that they are an inclusive venue for ALL couples.
Now, let’s get to this LGBTQ Proposal now shall we?!
Anna’s ring is from Diamonds Direct. It’s a beautiful Sylvie ring. Alexis’ ring is from Revolution Jewelry. It’s a Elysium diamond ring. We love seeing what rings couples pick!
We love that so many more vendors are now displaying their inclusiveness. As an LGBTQ+ couple ourselves, we know the bravery that it takes to reach out to venues and vendors when you are unsure if they support you.
Check out vendor websites and see if they have an inclusivity statement or if you see any evidence of being LGBTQ+ friendly. This can help assure that your vendors will support you! Working with these types of vendors will make your wedding day that much better! If you are wanting more advice on finding LGBTQ+ Wedding Vendors you can click HERE to see exactly how to find them!
