Good afternoon y’all and welcome to Michelle and Rob’s blog allllll about their West Lafayette Couples Session!!! We had an absolute blast with these two and their pup, Snoopy! He really stole the show during this photoshoot and I’m not sure if anyone was actually upset about it?! He is WAY TOO CUTE! Keep reading to hear all about Michelle and Rob!
Michelle and Rob met as little baby freshmen at the great Butler University, but! They did not actually start their life together until months after graduation, LOL! Funny how life works, huh?! They officially started dating in October of 2014 and were engaged in early 2019. Together, they love watching sports and staying active themselves! They also love a good night eating out so they often find new restaurants together while they explore their city of Indianapolis! 🙂 Michelle’s favorite thing about Rob is how hardworking and driven he is. She tells us that she is inspired by his ability to create goals and stick with them!!! We LOVE that! Rob quotes that he loves how perceptive Michelle is and that they are always on the same page… something you need in any great relationship!Â
Rob planned the surprise around Michelle’s birthday… it all worked out for him because she wasn’t at all suspicious about the “birthday surprises.” They went back to the place they fell in love, Butler University. It was a beautiful morning and they decided to walk around campus for a few minutes before eating. Rob gave Michelle a card for her birthday on a bench during their morning walk.Â
Inside this card was a gorgeous pair of earrings that belonged to Rob’s late grandmother!!! SO CUTE RIGHT?! Michelle put on her new jewels and stood up to continue their walk, but realized Rob wasn’t beside her. She turned around to find him down on one knee with a jewelry box in hand! Michelle tells us that funny enough, she was so overwhelmed with emotions that she doesn’t actually know what Rob said in his proposal speech – but she knows it was probably great – LOL! That is real love for ya 😉 Â
As Rob was putting the ring on her finger, the secret photographer he had hired jumped out and it was then that Michelle realized the whole thing was caught on camera!!! So, so sweet BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE! They went up to Butler’s bell tower’s steps to take more pictures, and when Michelle turned around, she saw both of their entire families walking down the steps across the pond. Cue all of the happy tears. Many more happy tears came as they made their way over to their families that were waiting for them with champagne. Rob SERIOUSLY could not have planned a more perfect surprise for them! Straight out of a movie!!!
These two had to postpone their big celebration due to covid. So, even though May 9th, 2020 did not turn out to be what it was supposed to be, they still had an amazing kitchen wedding and legally got married! Both sets of parents and Michelle’s sister attended while Rob’s sister, brother-in-law, and brand new newphew all joined in via Facetime. Michelle + Rob had their uncle officiate and fill out all of the paperwork the day before, and officially exchanged rings and signed their marriage license right in the middle of their KITCHEN! They had lots of champagne, cake, and even grilled out for the rest of the day! They truly couldn’t have asked for anything better given the circumstances!
We were defintly curious as to how they were going to proceed planning a wedding admist covid! Here is what Michelle and Rob had to say! “We are certainly considering our new perspective and what truly is important to us as we share this celebration with our extended families and friends. We want to be very careful of everyone’s safety and are planning to shrink the guest list by a little bit than what was originally planned. First and foremost, we just want everyone to stay safe and healthy and know that we appreciate their love and support regardless of what the “big wedding” looks like! ”
As far as advice, Michelle had some great tips! “My advice would be to give yourself some time to think things through before having to make any big decisions or changes. Unfortunately, we don’t know how long COVID will last and when it will be safe to gather in large groups again, so until then, I would recommend not making any decisions too hastily.”
Since Covid postponed their wedding, they did what any other couple would do. Adopt a puppy of course! Here is what Michelle + Rob had to say about their new family member, Snoopy! “Adopting our new rescue dog, Snoopy, was the best decision we could have made! For several years, I had been bugging Rob to get a dog. I started following shelter Facebook pages and looking up adoptable dogs and events for us to go to, but we were never really quite ready to adopt. “
“Finally, once we had to postpone our big wedding celebration due to COVID, we made a compromise. If we can’t have a wedding, then we’re getting a dog instead! I immediately starting sourcing every animal shelter and adoptable dog within 150 miles of Indianapolis. Snoopy was actually the first official application I submitted of about 10. He was perfect! About two years old, medium-sized, and just looking for a loving family to welcome him into their home.”
“Snoopy is a true mutt with at least some Beagle, Pointer, and a Coon Hound mix. He had been adopted a couple of times before coming to live with us, and we couldn’t be more thankful that those other adopters didn’t see how amazing of a dog he is. He needed a few weeks to warm up to us and his new home, but he has since become very comfortable, and we often forget what life was like before him!”
